Pataghillón

After tough pandemic years, Carlos and María opened Pataghillón, a venue made by and for the people of Ogrobe, based on the concept of a “mecotaberna.” The place also pays tribute to the hardworking people of the local canning factories that operated in the village for decades, while offering fresh local seafood on its menu. For the logo lettering, I worked hand in hand with Nano Besada, concluding that the traditional can opener — a Galician invention by José Valle Armesto — was perfect and representative of a fish mostly consumed canned. The term “pataghillón” is how the people of Ogrobe refer to the “agulla,” “alcrique,” or “chandarme.”
